Advertisement calls of two species of the Sphaenorhynchus platycephalus group and the aggressive call of S. bromelicola (Anura: Hylidae: Scinaxinae). pp. 401-404.
Abstract. All species of the genus Sphaenorhynchus have had their advertisement call described, with the exceptions of S. botocudo and S. bromelicola. We describe here the advertisement calls of these two remaining species and the aggressive call of S. bromelicola. The advertisement calls of both species are simple, pulsatile and modulated with decreasing frequency. The aggressive call of S. bromelicola is composed of a series of rapidly repeated notes and was emitted before an advertisement call. Additionally, we standardize the nomenclature of the advertisement call parameters of the species of the S. platycephalus group, using the call-centred terminological approach.
